One Step At A Time

I am doing well.  I got through this week unscathed.  There have been a couple of times that I wanted Chick-Fil-A, but I chose not to indulge.  I instead decided to stay the course.  I am feeling better.  I have been working on some yoga poses, breathing, massage and stretching with Brooke Pratt.  My body seems to be responding well.  I am grateful the changes that are taking place.  I am at a plateau, but I am sure that is because I haven’t gotten in any exercise yet.  The change in diet has helped me lose 15 pounds without a lot of effort.  Now, I need to focus on the exercise so I can consistently get my heart rate up.

I ran across this quote by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.  It spoken by the character Edith in his 1872 dramatic poem entitled, Christus: A Mystery.  It says:

Let us, then, labor for an inward stillness,–
An inward stillness and an inward healing;
That perfect silence where the lips and heart
Are still, and we no longer entertain
Our own imperfect thoughts and vain opinions,
But God alone speaks in us, and we wait
In singleness of heart, that we may know
His will, and in the silence of our spirits,
That we may do His will, and do that only!

This quote really made me think about my life and some of the things that I have gone through in the past year.  I am plan on doing just as Longfellow says:  “Labor for inward stillness.”
