Today was a true test, but I passed it with flying colors. I woke up late this morning, so I did not have time to pack my lunch. I do enjoy packing my lunch in the morning, but I think I will have to start packing it at night so that I have one less thing to do in the mornings. I went in and grabbed 3 clementine oranges and ran out the door. This was definitely not enough food, but I knew that I needed to take something with me to prevent me from binging. So, the oranges were the first thing that I saw. I wasn’t that hungry so that saved me. I decided to stay focused and not stop anywhere for food. I did not want to take the risk of buying something crazy. I am actually at a point that I am okay with the whole not buying bad food thing, so I know that I can go into a store and buy healthy stuff without a problem. I just don’t want to get into a habit of stopping to buy food.
I have saved a lot of money buy not eating out. This definitely will help our budget. I realize now how expensive it is to eat out all of the time. I never thought about it before. My eyes are wide open now. After eating my oranges, I taught a class, and then I decided to run home for lunch so that I could eat a proper meal, and that is exactly what I did. I only had about 15-20 minutes, but I had some food already prepared in the refrigerator, so that helped out. Under normal circumstances, I would have stopped and bought something bad to eat, but I can honestly say that my Father in Heaven has really helped me change my mindset, and that has made all of the difference.
I have the eating thing down pat pretty well, now I need to get the consistent exercise thing going. I am doing a 19 mile walk in about a month and a half. So, that is definitely a motivating factor. Life is really good right now. I measured my waist and it is down about 5 inches. I have plans for my life, and I have decided not to let others control that. I do not want to be hindered by obesity related illnesses, so I have a lot of work to do, and I am going to do it.

you are focused! you do know though that you will be tested in this area…again and again. i’m so pleased with your resolve….you’re going to do it!
You are right Nancy. I have been tested multiple times already, but I understand now that I am in control, and it is my responsibility to myself to make the right choices for the sake of my health, and my future. I know that I can do it now. It is going to take a lot of work, but I am up for the challenge.

eating out does cost a lot and I know it from experience because I don’t like to cook for just “me” so I used to stop at any fast food place and order. That was one of the things that helped me loose weight and keep it off. After I started doing fast food plus letting myself down for numerous reasons…I gained almost all back. Good for you to keep meals done. That way whenever you forget them you can go home and eat that instead of getting tempted to buy junk. I try to hang an empty bag on the door knob at night to remind myself that I have to take something with me, maybe that will help.
Packing my own lunch has been a great change for me. I always make sure I have extra snacks to get me through the day. There have been a couple of days that I did not get my lunch packed, and I tell you, those days were weird for me because I did not know what to eat. I wanted to eat something healthy, so I had to make some really thoughtful decisions. Amazingly, it is a lot easier to pack my lunch because I don’t have to worry about all of that. The decision has already been made, and it is one less thing to think about.
